Quake2 Frequently Asked Questions

The number one most asked question is this or something along these lines:

"I've installed several models from your site, but when I try to select them in the multi-player setup inside the game, they are not available. Why not?"

The answer 99% of the time is that you have a stray file directly underneath your /players directory. It probably will be a readme file or a temp file of some sort. You can either delete if or move it or anything you want, just get it out of here. Quake2 just doesn't like things to be untidy in this particular instance.

If this doesn't work for you, try moving out all the player directories except the male, female, and cyborg [the default players]. then reboot Quake2 and try looking at just those three in the multi-player setup. Then close down Quake2 and slowly add in the models you want to use. Once you get those working you can add the rest back in, but watch the stray files, that will give you issues.
