Quick tutorial for those who don't want to read the broken Russian/English of the website.
Left button pans, middle zooms, right rotates. Shift click to select an edge, ctrl click to deselect. hold down alt, and move your mouse (without clicking) to draw out a white edge loop. When it is going to where you want, click once to select that path. Once you have a seam defined in blue, hit "x" on the keyboard to cut. Then when you have all your seams set up, click the button in the top middle that looks like a circle with a diagonal slash through it with arrows pulling it apart. (if you mouse over it's called automatic unfolding). After it's all unfolded, you can click the button two over to the right to relax it more. Orange is stretched areas, black is too much space. Clicking a few times will spread it out over the mesh. There is a sphere with checkerboards to the left that you can click to see it with checkerboards applied.
