Pitch is one of the three rotational axes commonly used to describe the rotation of an object.
If you nod your head "yes," this is pitch in action. The term comes from aviation. Most game engines count from +90 to -90 degrees, starting out pointed straight up, turning downwards and ending pointed straight down. Straight forward is 0 degrees.
